Correct paTent assessment is needed before any nursing care plan or treatment can be implemented. ±his post-review of a person’s assessment will demonstrate the proper way to go about assessing a person’s health.Health History and Physical ExaminaTonHealth HistoryUnder my care for the assessment was Felix ±shimanga, a 50-year old man who has been working in the hospital environment since his 20s. A²er living in New York for a li³le less than 10 years, he’s lived in Georgia for 10 years. ±he reason for his assessment is he complaints of being constantly exhausted, sporadic Tght chest and occasional chest pain. ±he muscles in his neck are also Tght, his stomach and abdomen area has go³en larger, and wears glasses for near-sightedness. Mr. Felix has been a medical doctor and college professor teaching anatomy and physiology for 25 years, and he is very educated in physical educaTon and health. However, some cultural and psychosocial consideraTons include: he is an African-American, and he was born and raised in Congo, where staple food items such as cornmeal (maize or cassava) and plantains, are high in carbohydrates (Our Africa, 2014). He conTnues to eat tradiTonal foods in addiTon to common American dishes (which are not necessarily good for him either).Felix has a family history of diabetes and high blood pressure. In his past medical history, he has not had any surgeries, and other than tooth caviTes and vision problem. He has been relaTvely healthy most of his life; but he also has high blood pressure and slowly increasing heart problems.Physical ExaminaTonHis neurological system is unremarkableRespiratory system: RespiraTon: 16 per minute. Cardiovascular System: The heart rate is 72 beat per minute. Pulse rate is at 72. The blood pressure was 140 / 95,which is sugges±ve of high blood pressure and related to his medical history. No heart murmur was noted, and no other abnormali±es were noted.
