• Heart disease Incidence rates in the UK / worldwide
• Risk factors + epidemiology /where in the world heart disease is most prevalent + why
• Different types of heart disease (short overview to make mention of: heart failure, valve disorders, muscle fatigue/hypertension – left and right disorders, various stenotic conditions, arrhythmias and coronary artery disease,)
• Pathophysiology of relevant heart diseases – focus on the most relevant ones likely to benefit from music/ fish/ essential oils (eg Coronary artery disease, pulmonary hypertension).
• Diagnostic tests for CAD and pulmonary hypertension (there’s various approaches)
• Current treatments – include the various categories, blood thinners/clot digesters, pacing drugs, statins – cholesterol, pacing drugs and devices, vasodilators, blood volume reducers, coronary angioplasty, thermoplasty, CABG, transplants.
• Discuss the issues of all these approaches to treat symptoms of ongoing pathologies.  How successful are they?  (Make the case that it costs a lot to treat symptoms but doesn’t address preventing the onset of disease).
• Introduce the concept of using drugs/alternative approaches prophylactically. Include any information on heart + lung disease treatments here.
