Historical Development of Nursing Timeline: It is considered as Dark age for nursing before Florence Nightingales period because nursing has considered as a job for ignorant and underprivileged people in society. Nurses were females from the low social standards; they are usually poor unmarried or isolated women. Florence Nightingale the “Lady with the lamp.” transformed the image of nursing. Nightingale’s philosophies and approaches continue as a basis to nursing theory and practice. Development of theory and logical thinking in nursing commenced with Florence Nightingale’s writings and remains towards the present. The drive of this timeline is to comprehend the expansion of Nursing as a Science from a historical viewpoint. This timeline explains the association among Nursing Science and profession. It stresses the evolution of nursing science, and the development of nursing as knowledge. Before the 1800’s nurses does not have any certified education or training in nursing (Fitzpatrick & Whall, 2005). Nursing during the time of War: During the Civil War, thousands of females helped as volunteer nurses. Volunteer nurses of the Civil War lack professional training, but they worked untiringly to provide assistance and well-being to the sick and injured soldiers. During the commencement of the war, nurses were just unpaid assistants who presented up at military hospitals. But later, Clara Barton and Dorothea Dix planned a nursing force to deliver support and care for the suffering soldiers. During the period of (1820-1910), Florence Nightingale remained as one of the most conversant women for her expert care delivery of how nursing care reduced the mortality rate of British militaries during the Crimean War. Florence Nightingale (1860) promoted “the body’s reparative processes” and prevented complications of illness by altering patients environment. In 1861, Dorothea Dix along with a group of volunteer female nurses conducted a march in Washington, inspiring the government to identify their wish to support the Union’s wounded warriors. In
