occupations you could write about that i enjoy are swimming mediation yoga or reading
_____________________ _______________
For this paper, you will be required to select an occupation that YOU engage in and
undertake a detailed analysis of that occupation and how it impacts on your health and wellbeing.
The occupation you choose should be something that is regularly part of your life and
not something that you have only performed once. In so doing, you will integrate and
demonstrate your understanding of the material covered in the whole PEO1 module.
You will be required to use the prescribed form [form 3] to structure your analysis.
In your paper, you will be required to:
· set the context for your paper by introducing the concepts of occupation and activity.
· critically review activity analysis as a unique skill within the occupational therapy
profession.
· perform a detailed activity analysis using the form provided [form 3] – this should be
typed and included as an appendix. In the main body of your paper you may wish to
write a few lines about your chosen activity analysis, and then refer the reader to the
appendix for the detailed analysis. For the purpose of the activity analysis, you are
required to clearly define the parameters for the analysis e.g. if you are analysing
driving, do you mean driving to work in rush hour or going for a leisurely drive on a
Sunday? Describe this clearly – this will help you with the analysis.
· discuss current generic theoretical conceptualisations and models of health, as
studied in the module.
· discuss the relationship between human occupation and health / ill-health, from
both a personal (subjective) and theoretical (objective) perspective. The subjective
view can incorporate broad analytic reflections on the relationship between
occupation and health / ill-health in your life and also more specific analytic
reflections on the relationship between the occupation being analysed and your
health and wellbeing. Theoretical perspectives on the relationship between
occupation and health or ill-health can come from the various occupational science /
occupational therapy [or other] theorists and research you have studied in this
module, or elsewhere.
· refer to current occupational science and occupational therapy theories and
research, with particular reference to the readings in this module. It is also expected
that you show evidence of reading beyond the prescribed reading list.
· adhere to guidelines provided regarding written paper submissions. Pay special
attention to referencing. Material not directly referred to in your paper can be listed
in a bibliography.
