The National Health Information Infrastructure (NHII) was a healthcare standardization initiative for the development of an interoperable health information technology system…First proposed under President George W. Bush, the goal of NHII was to build an interoperable system of clinical, public health and health information technology (HIT) that encouraged public-private collaboration with the federal government in a leadership role.
