HCA 305 Week 5 Assignment Quality of US Healthcare System

Quality of US Healthcare System When discussing the quality of care, it is important not only to define what quality care is, but in this paper I will also be discussing how it is measured, the process, structure and outcome of medical care and their effects on quality, as well as why quality care is hard to find in the United States health care system. Citizens living in the United Statesof America pay more for health care compared to other industrialized countries yet the health care system is one of the lowest ranking for multiple reasons. Comparisons have been made with Australia, the United Kingdom, Canada, the Netherlands, Germany and New Zealand. These six industrialized nations beat out the US when it comes to health care efficiency, quality, equity, access, and making the citizens capable for having a long and healthy life. A report from the common wealth has shown such a comparison (Staff, 2010). However there is still a room for every country to improve their standards of health care. Despite the fact that United States of America spends about $7,290 per person per year for health care it still stands last in the ranking among other industrialized nations; whereas in comparison, the Netherlands spends about $3,837 per person per year and stands first in the ranking. This alone shows that the United States does not have good value in its health care dollars. Study author and commonwealth fund president said that “It is disappointing, but not surprising that, despite our significant investment in health care, the U.S. continues to lag behind other countries.” Some of the researchers are also take into consideration that people in the US are more vulnerable to diseases and that in turn is why we end up paying more than people in other

It is an alternative for the health insurance provided on a private level. “The current estimate of the net cost of the PP ACA by the Congressional Budget Office is $938 billion, based on a predicted decrease of 32 million uninsured individuals by 2019 with a concomitant reduction of $124 billion in the federal deficit. The costs of the PPACA are expected to be borne by a combination of savings from the Medicare and Medicaid programs and new taxes and fees, including an excise tax on high-cost insurance” (Sultz, 2010). Despite the fact that this will incur massive expenses congress supports this plan. The basic goal as described by Jacob Hacker is to provide an inexpensive health insurance. The PP ACA will be provided to all American citizens. This health insurance is actually a combination of new medical care that is initiated by the government as well as the already present health pl
