There are several challenges that define the future strategic direction with health care. In 2009 (ARRA)the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act had begun the new era on health care reform and its Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) provisions. Although HITECH may be viewed narrowly as legislation to stimulate adoption of health information technology Health IT, it is better understood as an essential foundation for ourbroader efforts to restructure health care delivery. (Buntin, 2010) There have been four barriers with the HER that have slowed the system. One barrier is the United States economy, fee- for- service payment, there is no reward for improvement with quality and efficiency with the health care information technology. The second barrier is logistical and technical with lacking resources, installation, maintaining, upgrading and the expertise with the new technology this poses a problem with provides making big investments in the systems with worries of the technology meeting the needs. This week’s assignment we were asked to construct a paper on one of the trends marking the continuing transformation of the United States health care industry and the dramatic increase in the pace of competition. There is outstanding competition that is occurring among: health plans and the hospitals; health plans; drug companies; and even between the hospitals and physicians.
