Holistic nursing is characterized as a nursing practice that has mending the entire individual as its objective. It is a specialty practice that exploits the knowledge of nurses, hypotheses, skill and instinct to direct nurses as they become part of the therapeutic team with individuals in their care. Holistic nursing care has been provided for many years.

Holistic nursing encompasses caring for the person as a whole. This differs from the nursing process which focuses on the actual illness. J.S. is a thirty-five year old male who with chronic medical conditions related to his spinal cord injury in which he sustained from a motor vehicle accident in February of two thousand and fifteen.

Prior to the accident he was healthy and energetic and loved life. He now has had to accept his new lifestyle including his not only his physical state but his mental, emotional, and spiritual state as well. This paper will address challenges related to the holistic process and the health care of J.S. Physical Aspect Our body is the physical capsule which contains our organs, systems, brain, mind, emotions and soul (Smith, 2008).

An injury to the spinal cord regardless of the level of injury can dramatically effect a person’s physical abilities. The physical impact is dependent upon the severity of the injury and the areas involved.
