However, Mr. Martin is a patient of a progressive cardiology practice and was able to call his nurse using a videophone.Mr. Martin’s telenurse, Tomika, could see that Mr. Martin was lying on his bed. He was complaining of feeling badly, but appeared to be alert. Tomika asked him if he was having any shortness of breath, chest pain or nausea and vomiting. All of which he denied. Mrs. Martin, whowas with her husband, used the telemedicine unit to transmit his vital signs to the telenurse. His heart rate was 78, his blood pressure was 92/54, and his respiratory rate was 20. Tomika, using her laptop during the call to review Mr. Martin’s electronic health record (EHR), was aware that the cardiologist had increased his blood pressure medication at the previous office visit. Tomika then called the cardiologist who then called Mr. Martin at home. He instructed Mr. Martin to readjust his medication.
