Since 2013, St. Louis Medical Center (SLMC) has been seen an increased number of admissions of elderly patients with cardiovascular problem. Given the healthcare reform and healthcare economic environment, it is crucial for SLMC to leverage a shared governance model to optimized the quality of the care with the limited resource.

This article outlines the three main elements of a shared governance model in SLMC, which are implementing interdisciplinary approach, empowering staff, and implementing transformational leadership.
