Assignment 2 Cost Drivers

Introduction

A cost driver can be defined as any factor that causes a change in the cost of a particular activity (Christopher, 2016). Based on activity –based costing, cost drivers are known to drive the costs of labor, maintenance as well as other variable expenses.  For the project in module two, this anticipated costs will be essential in determining the eventual budget estimates (Amador & Cabral, 2016).

What materials and labor will be necessary to produce your product for sale? The business proposed in module two was a play station (for playing FIFA/NFS games) as well as a service based company focusing mainly on printing of books and exams, filing of binding, and tax returns. For PlayStations we shall need 30 Play stations (with thirty monitors) as well as purchase FIFA/ NFS games for them. The cost of play stations is estimated to be 200USD each while the monitors will cost approximately 300USD each. To this, five staff members will be hired to manage six stations each. Not much labor is needed here since challenges being faced by youths who play can be solved alternately and not necessarily at once. The payment to employees will be a fixed salary of 250 USD per month and a commission of 10% for sales above 7000 USD per month.
